Johnny About about an extended forecast for Kansas

I know several on here are going to be heading to Kansas in the next week or so. Can you you help us out. The 15 day forecast on Accuweather is looking promising. I will be leaving Nov7.

    Thanks
    Brandon

I'm packed! I'm taking everything I own. Plus an attitude.

I have been getting stuff gathered for the last week. I will start washing clothes this week. Kanasas weather is more unpredictable than Texas weather. Every year that I been, I have enjoyed all 4 seasons in a matter of a few days.

Will be leaving early morning of the 6th. My farmer told me that they are calling for rain the 5th and 6th and then turning rather chili the night of the 6th. I think he said low in the 20's and highs in the 50's until the 10th or 11th. He said that he is seeing all size bucks bumping does around early and late each day.

We will see what happens and good luck to all heading that way.

Accuweather , for Eureka, has rain on the 7th and 8th. Where are you hunting?

South Central, Pratt - Kingman county line. My farmer might be off a day or so??? Can't wait to get back up there and sit awhile. I saw some real good deer on my October trip, and can't wait to get back in my north wind stand. I kind of missed a mid to low 150's non-typical giant that trip and need to redeem myself.

              Good luck to all.

My uncle shot this buck chasing an uninterested doe down the Chikaskia River at 6:00pm on Sunday night. He said they should be chasing hard when I get up there on the 8th. I can't wait!

Heath, not as good as I had wished. Ashton had a great weekend at the plate but did not pitch as well as she has in the past.

Her and I sat behind the house hoping to get a glimpse of the 144" 11 point we have got tons of pictures of but that dude will not come out during daylight hours since he got shot through the back straps by a neighbor.

I am going to post my 8 later today.

Accuweather's extended forecasts are computer automated and based off of the GFS model. Is the GFS model right? Well, probably not completely but it is picking up a more cooler pattern that I'm leaning towards pretty strongly. It looks like at least the first half of November will be a good bit on the cool side, if not cold. We could start seeing some frigid arctic air strart bottling up in the northwestern territories and into the CONUS around the 5th to 7th of November timeframe. I think the first front will be a good one but the second one around the 10th to 12th time frame could be a darn good one.

Here is what the 12z GFS run is currently spitting out. This forecast is for southeast, Texas so this should give you Kansas hunters and idea on how cold it COULD get.

-Front passes through and brings a rapid temperature drop on the morning of Saturday, November 10th. By sunrise, temperatures at IAH are near 49-degrees with a cold rain.

-Temperatures continue to fall through Saturday (Nov. 10th) and by the evening temperatures are a chilly 40-degrees at IAH. With precipitation still lingering, this run would suggest that a few outlying areas could see some frozen precipitation.

-Sunday morning (Nov. 11th) looks extremely cold. This run is showing a temperature of 33-degrees at IAH and freezing or below to the north. Also, it is showing 850mb temperatures near -3 and it is showing a thickness value of 544. All of this is right on the edge of what is needed for snow, and any left over precipitation would likely be frozen from I-10 northward IF this run were to play out exactly...which, chances are, it will not.

-Sunday afternoon (Nov. 11th) is looking to stay in the 40s with slowly clearing skies and a brisk north breeze. By early evening, the model is showing a temperature of 37-degrees at IAH.

-Monday morning (Nov. 12th) looks to feature the coldest temperatures [according to the 12z run]. It is showing a low of 32-33 at IAH with freezing or below to the north.
