    Insect identification please

    Can anyone tell me what this is. It moved and acted like an ant. This sucker is huge!!! What is it?

    We call em Buffalo Ants, dont know what they are really called or what they do.

      That is a Velvet ant A.K.A. Cowkiller. It is actually a wingless wasp.

                I always called em army ants. Hard to kill by stepping on when they are not on a hard surface.

                  cow ants aka cow killer and like the above mentioned they will put the hurt on ya for sure! just got popped by one about 3 weeks ago while weed eatin'
