    Pin gap vs. FPS

    What is your pin gap from 20 to 60 yards and fps of bow. Curious how consistent different shooters and setups will be based on similar speeds.

    I am a finger shooter that shoots aluminum arrows and probably shoot the slowest setup on here so I am embarrassed to list my own!

    pin gap is also dependent on distance of pins from the string. Example, a target shooter with a sight extended way forward will have a larger pin gap that a hunter with his sight just ahead of the riser.

      Do not have my bow with me, but my pin gap widened going from 410 grains to 560 grains, but not much. Speed went from 314 to 270, but I like the forgiveness, accuracy and quietness of the bow.

        Not set up out to 60, Only have mine set at 20, 30, and 40, They are about 3/16ths apart.
        PSE Stinger at 62lbs. IBO is 316 but I'm not at 70 lbs so I dont know the speed.

          If I'm not mistaken, the gap between pins is dependent on a wide variety of factors including: draw weight, draw length, arrow weight, arrow length, tip weight and maybe more. There is a computer program out there that will allow you to input all the data for your particular setup and print out a label that show you EXACTLY where to set your pins for a particular distance. A buddy of mine that's a professional 3D shooter uses it but I've never personally tried it.

            There is a lot of factors that go into Sight Pin settings, so here’s my numbers.
            Arrow Length: 28.25
            Arrow Weight: 415
            Peep to Sight Length: 26.75
            Peep to arrow shaft height: 3
            Draw Weight: 62lb
            Draw Length: 28.5
            Speed: 260

            Pins:
            20 = 0
            30 = .154
            40 = .332
            50 = .522
            60 = .722

            I used the software package called Archers Advantage, and it makes it a lot easier when you make changes.

              Thanks for the input guys and yes there are many factors that affect the exact distance of the gap between aiming points.

              I am just gathering data for a program I am developing that is somewhat a simplified version of the commerical programs that are currently available. Play around with Archers Mark if you get a chance and change various variables by small amounts and look at the difference in the sight tape it generates, IMO the program could be simplified somewhat due to the fact that the marks the program provides are generally pretty close but occassionally require minor adjustments.
