    Leo/gun question

I had (another) cheapo pistol stolen from my truck. It was my fault...didn't turn car alarm on, had 2 screaming kids to take inside...blah blah blah. Anyways, my question is this:
The gun store I bought it from is closed today and I need to get serial #...is there anyway I can get this today to put in police report?

    Thanks.

not unless you know the owner & is willing to go through his books...sure you don't have the receipt or box somewhere??

I am not a current LEO.

The only way to get that serial number is for the store to get it for you.

Call you local PD and asked them what they want you to do on the report.

I don't have box. I guess I was just hoping there was an online gun-purchase database...

You won't have to have the ser. # to file a report but it will make it much easier to recover if they should find it.

if this was factual....1/2 of the tbh membership would go into cardiac arrest

Some le agencies will not allow the return of a firearm withouth a s/n simply due to the volume of similar models being made in the millions, so be sure and get it tomorrow if today doesn't work out.

              good luck

^^^NOOOOOOO!!!! But Obamy and the other Gun Control Jackwagons Want One........

Law Enforcement Agencies Need The Make, Model, and Serial Number to Enter as Stolen In NCIC TCIC.

Get it from the gun store you bought it from.

You can file the report today and then have the serial number added to it when you get it.

                      Latent Prints

Latent Prints, better known to some as finger prints, is nothing like you see on TV shows, i.e. CSI. I have been able to make arrests based on latent prints found inside a car during a BMV, however, our DA has not taken some cases because the latent prints were found on the outside of the car and not the inside, thus believing that the perp could have touched the car when he went to steady himself and so forth.

I've taught a few crime scene schools and during the training, I've had students pick up a glass, hold it in their hand for about 30 seconds and then place it on the table. We've then dusted each glass and you would be surprised at the number of glasses that did not have any latent prints.

Anyway, if the police officer didn't dust for latent prints, then the point is mute.....
