    Car trouble

    2001 Nissan Maxima
I would turn the key and it would just start clicking. Turn it back off then try again and it would start. Turn it back off then try again and it would just click. Then try again and it would start. Trip A and B reset to 0.0. Battery cables are good and snug. I have no idea what is going on. Not a car guy. Just dropped $2000 for new cars and a front wheel hub assembly I don't want to put it back in the shop. Help is needed.

Ignition switch is what it sounds like to me if your battery cables are CLEAN and snug.

First, have the battery checked to see if it's bad (free at wally world and most other automotive part/repair locations). If ok, then I'd suspect the starter solenoid. A quick test can pretty well isolate the problem component.

Starter solenoid, or else bad hot/ground wire connection at the starter/solenoid. I'd check that first. Take 'em off, clean 'em up, and hook 'em back up snug.

Had same problem with wifes car this past week. Checked battery and voltage was good when just sitting there but when you put a load on it (trying to start car) the voltage dropped to 9.3. Slapped a new battery in the car and everything is fine. Just wish it would have waited since we bought her another car yesterday.

              Probably battery or starter.

Take the battery to get tested, if its good and I suspect it will be I too believe you have a starter problem.

I went to AutoZone and got the battery tested. It was bad. So I bought a new battery and all is good so far. Thanks guys.

Glad it worked out for ya bud. Could always be worse than a battery!

A new battery will solve the problem.

Yes Battery sounds about right, the heat just kills those batteries.
