    Sears/Craftsman problem

I own 2 1/2 inch drive ratchets made by craftsman. Both are the teardrop style, but one is a fine tooth. Well long story short, I broke the head of the fine tooth ratchet in half. Ive gone three times to get a replacement and on two of the tries the people just gave up when they didnt have it in the store(which I knew they wouldnt), but this last time the person helping me called customer service and they said they would send out a comparable model since the one I broke is no longer in production. Well I get it in the mail today and Its a normal tooth 1/2 teardrop and I almost flipped my lid. Now they have my broken ratchet to prove that mine was a fine tooth and I'm stuck with two normal ratchets. I think the only thing that will save me is that the guy helping me wrote fine tooth ratchet on my receipt. I sure hope I can get it all straightened out tomorrow.

So if they no longer make it, did you really expect them to send you one in the mail?
I don't understand what you were expecting to get, or why you surprised at what you received.

You clearly wrote in your post that "THAT THEY WOULD SEND A COMPARABLE MODEL, SINCE THEN MODEL YOU BROKE WAS NO LONGER MADE".

So why the tantrum?, YOU KNEW AHEAD OF TIME THAT CERTAIN MODEL WAS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. I have had similar experience with Sears and Craftsman, and they have never failed to do something. A couple of times i was informed that the model of wrench i broke was no longer made....i got a comparable model instead.....what am i missing here?

after 40 years of using Craftsman 20 ought years ago i switched to Snap-on. I have never broke one of the Snap-on. You get what you pay for.

^^^^^this. May cost a little more but the quality and convenience along with the lack of bs I have to deal with when it comes to ANY issue on my tools makes the price difference well beyond worth it IMO.

Snap-on all the way but even they don't make alof of the wrenchs that I own and I wont trade in my old pencil wrenchs in for the new models best wrenchs they ever made.

Because they do carry fine tooth 1/2 drive ratchets. The one guy I talked to who found a fine tooth in the catalog said that it was $80 and he didn't think he could get that for me.
