    Sinus, allergy relief ...finally.

A little history, seems I have had this brutal sinus congestion/infection rotating for about a year now. I came to the conclusion that it was somehow tied to this drought we have been under for about the same time period, as it only ever took an hour or so in cold dry air(air conditioning) car/home or office to jam up the works.

I would spend EVERY day, multiple times/day, pumping OTC nose spray for any relief. According to my wife, my snoring at night, and sounding like I was basically suffocating...which left me exhausted every day, even after a "good night's sleep".

I would wake up all night completely clogged, yet unable to even blow my nose without hitting the nose spray... which, over time, also led to nose bleeds, clogged ears to the point that about a month ago I developed a pretty bad case of tennitus(which added to keeping me awake), then finally culminating in vertigo.

I have always been pretty healthy, have always kind of prided myself on my balance, dexterity and agility... but the vertigo was something I could never have imagined and when IT, and the sinus infection finally got bad enough where I felt I should finally see my Dr.

Went in, She does the usuals, took a look in my ears and immediately mentioned inflammation, infection... cleaned out my ear canals thoroughly, seems the nighttime use of the OTC nose-spray, being clogged and snoring/gasping for breath had only made it all worse by literally sucking all this mess into my inner ear works.

She gave me a couple shots, one to fight the infection and another, a steroid I guess to kickstart fixing the rest.

The kicker.... I have come to think is the other prescription She called in.

    Omnaris Nasal Spray.

I admit, the last thing I wanted to do was start pumping another spray up my snout, but She convinced me... now, I'm not really one to tout or promote a particular medication, all we have to do is watch TV for any amount of time to see one drug commercial after another... and with those, usually comes my automatic skepticism.

But, I can personally attest to the fact, THIS stuff works!

Best I can tell, it blocks, stops, whatever, nasal allergic reactions from even occurring, therefore eliminating the sinus inflammation that followed.

I have used it once a day now, since Tuesday last week, and have not been clogged one single time throughout the day, and best yet, I am able to sleep all night without suffocating and the wife even says my snoring is minimal... as opposed to driving her completely out of the room 3-4 nights a week. I am still shaking off the vertigo, but the hissing/ringing in my left ear is gone.

A side effect I am hoping comes along is, maybe some relief from my usual migraines...prior to this/last year, I could reasonably expect to have 4-5/year(very manageable), but since coming down with the above mentioned sinus crap, I have had at least 2, sometimes 3/month in the past 10 months or so.

Again, I'm no Doctor(and I slept perfectly well in my own bed last night), but if you have been suffering from similar sinus/allergy condition for MONTHS, ask your Doc about Omnaris.

My allergies have gotten to where I have them 365 now. I take Zyrtec D and it helps, but I may have to check that out, too.

Yep, I've dropped more Zyrtec, Benadryl, Sudafed etc than I want to admit. That was part of my cycle, I would go from sneezing fits, burning face, wanting to claw out my itchy eyes to being jammed shut.

I can honestly say, I have NOT sneezed one time since at least Wednesday.

I wonder if it will help me with the ragweed. This stuff kills me during bow season.

Ok, I am not saying Omnaris doesn't work. But I will give you my 2 cents.
I have fought allergies all my life, it runs in my family. My buddies still tell a good story about me hauling hay when we were kids, I put on a good show. I had been on nasal spray and allergy pills for 20 years. Since I was laid off for a year before I started this job I am in now, it got to be a problem not having insurance. I ended up paying 30 bucks a month for minimal allergy relief. So I did some research. I started using a neti pot, at night before I go to bed, and rinsing my beard. In the morning when I get out of the shower, I take a cotton swab and rub olive oil in each nostril. I have not had an allergy attach sinse I started. I have worked in the hay field, baling hay, and I work in a feed store every weekend, loading hay. I just got sick of paying for minimal allergy relief and doctors saying "oh, here try this one now." The only thing I can think olive oil does is it is a histamine blocker, by coating the inside of your nose. Also, I will admit, I have done a lot of praying. I had horrible allergy attaches(hives, unable to breath, runny nose, and my guts feeling like they were gonna fall out) so I had to trust God. It wasn't easy to start, everytime I sneezed I thought I was gonna have on allergy attach. IMO most doctors don't have a clue what works, they just go with what the pharmaceutical reps(I put-on pharm rep meeting at a 5 star restaurant, they can't BS me)tell them and use us as guinea pigs. I don't have the money to keep trying there crap. I don't mean to rant, just giving you some info, so if you get tired of taking meds, you have a alternative.

If we'd start with this more often there would be less need of medications.

Glad you found something that works for you CTL.

I did the Neil Med thing for a while, was ok, except for the occasional gush of water, from out of nowhere... the last straw was while I leaned over someone's desk.

LOL!! I know that "unexpected leak" all too well! I do mine in the evenings before I take a shower and it seems to help not having the "drip".

I had sinus surgery almost 2 years ago. I have ZERO sinus cavities in my forehead, only the 4 that are in my cheeks. My right cavity was severely swollen with a fungus growing in there. A "normal" surgery is 2 hours, mine lasted over 3 hours with him ONLY working on my right side. Removed, rebuilt and replaced my septum as well due to it being warped from all the swelling. I'm not a mouth breather anymore!!
