Best hunting socks for cold weather?

Which sock is best for Texas when it is very cold? I know cotton doesn't work very well.Is merino wool any better?Surely someone on the green screen will be able to answer this. Thanks in advance.

Some good wool socks will work prefect. They'll keep the feet warm and dry.

I use the under armour liners and the gander mountain wool socks... awesome combo and the most comfortable my feet have ever been!

I also use the merino wool blends down here and my feet have never gotten cold. Even used the same in Wi when it was 0 out and did not get cold feet.

Smartwool brand is the best I have found. They won't shrink like cheaper brands when washed. Get a thinner pair for cool temps and thicker for the really cold weather. FYI- looser fitting footwear allows better circulation and warmer feet.

i second that, i wore smart wool socks in the mtns of afganistan and they never let me down. i even wear a pair to the gym in the summer to allow the sweat to be pulled away from my feet. i'm a huge fan of smart wool

Which socks are the best when on long hikes in the mountains in colorado on an elk hunt?

The REI smartwool socks are awesome all year round for hunting. They're pricey- $15-20 per pair but wear like iron and absolutely make your feet comfortable. A liner sock inside will prevent blisters if you're prone to that happening, especially when elk hunting and you're walking up and down hills and your foot rubs the shoes differently than on flat ground.

I use socks made by a company called Ullfrotte. 400gr over a smart wool. Im talking really cold weather. 20 to -10.

Wool is my pick because of its natural wicking properties, especially when moving then siiting still. I typically do merino with the underliner just like the above.
