    LEO Question: Rifle Quals

I work at an agency in central texas and we are having problems qualifying everyone with their rifles. It sounds like we are trying to qualify patrol guys using SWAT standards. What are yalls requirements for the rifle qual course? I'm not looking for "I think" or "as best as I can remember", I'm looking for the actual qual course. What targets are you using? What is considered passing? Do you have a different course for TCLEOSE and for your agency? Just looking for info.

Most of the Law Enforcement Agencies Around here in North Texas, as far as for regular patrol rifle quals, just use the minimum TCLEOSE standard patrol rifle requirements. Get from TCLEOSE.

We just use what TCLEOSE requires then every year another 30 rounds recertification. But we do require you shoot with open and scope to carry.

TTT. Ours is a 30 round TCLEOSE qual. My problem is we do our SWAT qual, not a TCLEOSE qual. Just curious if we are the only ones that wanna go above and beyond. Believe me, I'm not trying to brag because I ain't passed yet. I'm just trying to figure out if everyone does the minimum or if y'all do "extra".

We go way above TCLEOSE rifle qualifications.

I believe ours in the NTOA instructors qual course. We have to shoot 90% or higher on a 50 round course out to 100 yards.

To get to carry patrol rifles though, we have to go through a week long school from the NTOA. I don't recall anyone failing the current standard and we probably have 60 officers out of 127 that are patrol rifle qualified.

ours was a 90% to qualify,, and they used tcleose for the yearly but changed the quarterly courses up a good bit,, most courses we used had at least a couple shots from 100 yards, always prone,, a couple from 50 yaards prone standing and usually kneeling, evrythng closer than that was standing only,, most ofn the time the course was 20 rounds, always included head shots

We start from the driver seat of the patrol car.Retrieve the rifle from the trunk and move up to 100 yrds prone. Then 50 yrds your choice one knee or standing. 25 yrds one knee or standing and 10 yrds standing. Zeroed at 25 yrds have to aim a little low at 100 yrds.
