Need opinions on this deer butt: Buck or doe?

Is this a buck, i.e., am I seeing male parts between his legs, or is it just a marking on the fur of the inner part of the thigh?



I put out my very first game cam ever on my very first hunting lease ever (in Kentucky). It's been up for six days and I got this pic on the trail I set it up on (just repositioned it at a 45 degree angle to avoid future butt shots).

I'm very excited to have gotten it but can't conclusively determine what I'm looking at here: Is it a buck or a doe??

might move your camera where the the deer will be headed toward and/or away from it. assuming that is trail HE is walking down.

Thanks, all. That makes me real pleased (and a bit proud for my first try at scouting and placing a cam).

Target-panic: Good advice. I actually corrected it yesterday after viewing the card. I had definitely positioned the camera closer to 90 degrees than 45 degrees to the trail, so with the correction I hope to get the entire animal and not just his rear and/or privates!

Parks and Wildlife defines a buck as any deer with a hardened antler protruding through the skin .
