Bolivar Surf Report 7/7 and 7/8 and the 4 C's

Headed back to the pocket yesterday and today. Fishing has been getting better each day. I posted a report Monday where I only had two keeper fish. Well, yesterday we had 13 between a buddy and I. Today I had my limit by nine o'clock. Couldn't buy a bite on topwater but gave up on it pretty quick. Caught all my fish on mirrolures. Water looks great in the pocket. The farther you go back toward high island the worse the water looks. The green water was very close to the beach around rollover but down at high island it was a couple of hundred yards out. All my fish today were 15-20" and I lost a big one trying to land it. Always the one that got away! Anyway if anybody heads down there this weekend let us know how it holds up. I'm back to work tomorrow! So goes the big circle of life and the 4 C's (catch, clean, cook and consume) Today was a good day

jbird, i'm going to try and hit the pocket in the morning. I think i'll have just enough time to fish and get back for my daughters softball tournament.

We have a beach house M-S next week on bolivar so i'm hoping things hold!!! I'll keep everyone updated

                        JBird,
Just out of curiosity, The Bolivar Pocket is across from the lighthouse? Were you in the surf by RP?

By RP do you mean rollover pass? If so, no I wasn't. I checked the water there the last three days and it looked bad. The green water was closer today than it has been at rollover though. Where I was fishing was what I've always know as the pocket. Go all the way down until you get to Retallion Rd. and go to the beach, then head down toward the north jetty. There are a line of poles across the beach that restrict any vehicle traffic. I park there and start wading from there toward the jetty. I can see the lighthouse but it's far off.
