A lot of Texas counties are still "Free Range" counties, which means that he doesn't have to fence his cattle in, YOU have to fence them out. DON'T sell them, that'll land you in prison especially if he belongs to the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers ***'n as I do. They don't play games about selling someone else's cattle!
Check you local county laws and contact your local loose animal deputy.

I can tell you what I did....I continuously told my neighbor his cows kept getting on my land. With such a small place to hunt it ticked me off to see cows and ruin hunting and to have them eat my corn. So after months of dealing with it and him never fixing problem I took care of it on my own.
I decided it would be easier since i was making trips back and forth to leave the gate open. SO I did. After hunting my uncles feeder and seeing the same 4 cows clean out his protein feeder, I decided to get my truck and chase them up the road a 1/2 mile. Never saw them again as they got in someone elses pasture. Not sure if neighbor ever knew they were missing or if he found them. No longer was my concern

You can only work with them so much, then something has to give

leave gate open...non cow owners can play the "free range" game also. I did the same and then after they got out on the CR and onto my uncles non fenced place and cleaned out his protein feeder I chased the cows 1/2 mile up the road in my truck and never saw them again

This was after months of telling my neighbor. I would only take so much. No one can tell me when I can and cannot open my own gate.

It is not your fault if you leave your gate open and someone elses cows get on road. If it is free choice and you have to keep the cows out of your place, then nothing anyone can say

OOOOPS, internet was down and I thought my previous post didnt post

his cattle have destroyed your feeder and consumed your corn

send him a certified letter requesting payment in 30 days for replacement cost of damaged property

attach pictures of broken feeder and verify cost from the advertisements in BPS or Cabelas

word of caution.... i would NOT touch or harm his cattle in any way

I built a pen for my feeder, but I still have the cow problem. My father in law who is on the lease with me wants me to leave our gate open. He's mad because the cows knocked over his feeder and destroyed it. Already contacted the owner. Told us just to wait until it rains and the river gets back up. Ideas? Advice? Caliber?
Was this your lease land owner, or the owner of the cattle?

The owner of the cattle. I didn't see a brand, but I did see some ear tags. And to clarify, I'm not trying to be a jerk. It's just right now I have a very small piece of land to hunt on and it makes it that much harder to work it. Then the "Destructo Team" comes along and either tears everything up or eats it all!

We have this problem with the neighbors sheep! They come and visit us by some means... we have fixed the fence and they still manage to get over somehow... Sheep arent like cattle though... they run when they see us...

We did catch one of the babies to round up all the others on our place and then herded them back to their place....

                      Its a pain..
