    Back from the taxi

Back from the taxi. Shot November 13, 2010. It had been a long few days of hunting, I had only seen one yearling spike in two days. My dad was sitting in my second stand with his camera seeing quite a few deer and had a picture of a decent buck, I debated on switching stands but decided to stay in the one I had been in. I had one more hunt Sunday morning and then it was time to go home. I crawled back in the stand about 12:30 Saturday afternoon and got settled in for the afternoon. 4pm rolls around and the feeder goes off and the blood starts pumping with anticipation but it was a long wait. The sun was going down and it was starting to get cold, and I was beginning to wonder if I was gonna see anything, I kept my hopes up and kept scanning the area and all of a sudden something catches my eye. I look down the hill and see what looked like horns, i ease way back in the blind and he slowly comes up from the creek and stops broadside from me and the rest is history. I sit in the blind for a while and then start gathering my stuff and work my way down. I went and marked the spot I last saw him and went to get my dad and got on the radio to my wife and son and told them I got a nice one. We did not have much time to find him since I shot him at 530, I did hear him go down and was not going to leave him because of the hogs. When we got back to were he was shot it did not take us long to find him. I made some great memories on this day and would not had the opportunity to shoot him if my dad, wife and son had not helped me so much in getting this stand ready. My dad stopped deer hunting before I was old enough to deer hunt and this was the first time we had been deer hunting together. It brings a tear to my eye as I am reliving the hunt since my dad was with me and I can still hear my 3yo son saying on the radio "you shot a buck". My son was standing at the gate as we came up the hill with the radio to his ear waiting for me to say something else. I think he was happier than I was. I want to give a special thanks to my dad for teaching me about the great outdoors, I just hope my son keeps his passion for the great outdoors and passes it on to his children.
