    Block ice in Arlington area

Does anyone know of a place that sells block ice in the Arlington area? We thought about throwing a few blocks in the pool when we were planning on having people over. Anyone ever done that?

          interesting read......

"Dedicated pool owners are dropping hundreds of pounds of ice into their 90-degree pools in hopes of some relief," the Wall Street Journal reported...

Add 100 gallons of good tequilla, some margarita mix and sprinkle ice cream salt around the coping and you will have one big margarita on the rocks. Just gotta make sure no one drinks to much and gets to lazy to get out of the pool to go to the bathroom.

I was told to get empty gallon milk jugs, fill them with water and freeze them. saves money and you can reuse them

Unless you are buying a lot of ice, tons or more, I think it will be a waste of time. We dumped like 6 or more large coolers of ice in a above ground and couldn't tell it after about 5 minutes.

Tried it, does not drop the temp very much at all and is very expensive. It is cheaper to drain your pool an refill and will bring the temp down quite a bit. I am not telling you to do that and waste a lot of water, but will work much better and be cheaper.

Any kind of sprinkler works well to bring down temp. You can buy a sprinkler that fits on one of the jets in your pool and shoots the water into the air. Water cools in the air and cools your pool a little bit.

That's my 2 cents. If you go with the ice, post on how it works.

Ice blocks are fun to sit on and slide down a hill.

And when you fall off and brake something you have ice right there to put on it lol.

interesting info, I'll get a big block and float on it til I sink...LOL

I made me some of the sprinklers that I connect to the jets. Last year the pool was about 98 degrees and I added the sprinklers and it dropped it about 5 degrees in a few days. I put them on early this year.
