Hay feeder question....

if there are no cows to eat it, why is it necessary to put the hay in a feeder and keep it off the ground?

hay on the ground rots. that is IF if rains

As stated above, only to keep it from rotting with the moisture.

If its on the ground the animals can walk on it, pee and poop on it and ruin the quality of the hay. However we pour cottonseed on the ground and when we come pack, we can't find a single seed???
