AC Guys - I may need some bids!!

OK. A friend of mine who works for the local AC company came by. We need a new AC unit. He said we won't need the heater part, but I'm assuming it will probably be close to the same price range for a whole new shabang. So, I need a 3-4 ton unit. We have a 2100 sq ft home with most of the house having 9 ft ceilings. Any bites? Ball Park estimates?

I'm having mine done right now. I have a 2.5 ton heat pump. I added a room to the garage and therefore I'm kicking it up to a 3 ton. Total cost depending on what brand I went with was going to run me between $4400 - $6000.

Whatever the cost it's will be money well spent.

What refrigerant is your old system? Is your evaporator and lineset going to be compatible with the new 410a condenser....etc...????

Meant that it may not be spent well if not researched or the wrong guy installs it.

You ever spent a few days in your house (with kids) without AC in 100+ weather?

I had mine replaced last year (3 or 4 ton can't remember) and it was around $6K. Like I said, money well spent. As my redneck amigos would say "get-r-done"

Most all ac equipment is equal today. It's the ''INSTALL'' that makes the differance

X2. We deal with alot of the above on our service calls. Above all else make sure that you are dealing with a reputable and knowledgeable company that will stand behind their work. Even if that means paying a little more for it.
