I have a question for those that get their leather from tandy. I normally use the oak leaf brand or grade leather but am about to start a nicer project and am curious if the royal meadow or premium leather makes that much of a diference? I have noticed a lot less scarring and differences in coloration,on same piece, between economy and oak leaf but have never looked at the premium. Will it accept dye more evenly or tool better?
      Thanks

All things considered the better the leather the crisper and cleaner your tooling will be. That said Oak-leaf is what I use 90% of the time. Here's a couple riffle slings I recently finished. Both were done with Oak leaf.

The saddlemaker I used to work for swore by this leather. Made some beautiful work too.

Been forever since Ive been on, but heres a couple things Ive done that I thought were pretty good.

I recently switched to the antiquing gel. I like it alot better than the liquid.

These are done with the liquid dye.

Arm guard. Double saddle stitch for kicks.
