    Anyone have a good source/info for 40ft cargo/shipping/connex container?

Im looking for a 40ft cargo shipping container. Can be used as long as its not super rusty. would prefer double doors on both ends (is that even an option?)Anyone buy any recently for a price reference? I am located in Montgomery/Grimes county area. Whats the best thing to set one on and how high off the ground is ideal?

Thanks in advance for the replies guys.

My brother looked into these recently. His FIL got one for $1500 used. I would say $2000-$4000 depending on new or used. Most places will haul and set for a price. I would think some creosote railroad ties would work just fine. Most containers are just 8' wide so one every 4' probally be more than enough. My pops has one he bought with a skid under it. I do not think they come with double doors on both ends but i could be wrong (i have been once for sure) Not sure how high you want it but anything can be elevated with the right foundation. Just like setting a house.

You will probably spend about $2500 and up. Some will come on skids already. They are pretty neat and people are actually building homes and businesses with them now. Check out this site http://www.quik-build.com/index.htm

There's a couple of places around Conroe that sells them. There is a place behind Precision Printing and Coca-cola on 75 that sells them. We bought 2 from them. I think there is another place out on 2854.

There's a place on FM2854 just west of Conroe that has both the 20' and 40' containers for sale. I haven't checked the prices...

I bought a 40 ft long by 9 ft high (they call it a "High Cube" for some reason) 2 years ago & it was $3000 delivered & set up to my home. Guy hauled it from Port of Houston to my home in Groesbeck. He is from College Station but I don't remember his company name.

Never have seen one with doors on both ends but who knows. Most of them are bought from shipping companies at the Port of Houston. Make sure you have plenty of cinder blocks or railroad ties to set it on when they deliver it. You don't want to put it directly on the ground because they are danged heavy & fire ants will infest them.

Just get two 20 footers and put them back, doors on both ends.

I thought about the 2 20fters but for only a little more you can get 40'. Double the length and not double the cost. Going to have to find the name of the people in conroe and college station a call tuesday.

I bought one a few years back ,from "Action Containers" on the SE side of Houston. They are the source for all containers in the port of Houston and they had around 10000 on hand. I believe they are the "source " for a lot of the container jockeys that sell them around the state. They also had trucks in and out all day and delivery was easy to arrange.

I'm gonna share something I did really stupid with my 20' conex at deer camp. Mine is now on heavy concrete pads about 4" off ground after initially putting on the bare ground. Big rain came while I had door open and runoff flooded the conex and my four wheeler sat in 8' of water half the night and bearings had to be repacked. They really are watertight, so I had to drill holes in back wall and floor to drain it.

Talk about stupid on my part.

There is a place in College Station 979-535 7329. A 40 ft was about $4K delivered.

For $75 they would have a high security lock One of those round one's) welded on.

I think they are a broker. The lady sounded very nice.
