just watching a hunting show AND

the hunter was holding the antlers of the really big buck he had just shot. Well, one side popped off in his hands and a few minutes later the other one popped off. SO, do you now tag it with a doe tag?

Look between the deer's legs and tag accordingly.

Buck. It had antlers when he shot. No question for me.

If it had antlers when it was shot there is no question you tag as a buck.

                  This^^^

Regardless of what's between the deer's legs, when the deer is shot, it's to be tagged as either Antlered or ANTLERLESS. "Buck Deer" is defined as HARDENED antler protruding thru the skin.

Depends on the state regulations you are in.

This pamphlet gives you a summary of Wisconsin’s important deer hunting laws
and how they affect you; it is not a complete set of laws.

                        PUB-WM-431 2010

                        Definitions

                        Antlerless deer:
any deer without antlers or any deer with both antlers
less than 3 inches in length.

                        Buck deer:
a deer with at least one antler which is 3 inches or longer in length.

Very true. All depends on which state you're in. I was referring to Texas of course.
