Umm-no it's not. I've been in the plastics industry for 20 years. Would you mind providing any data (peer reviewed) to substantiate your claim. I can provide lots of data which shows no ill effects of PE water bottles under various tests. All plastics that are used in food products have to have FDA A-H testing. FDA A is done at elevated temperatures to simulate microwave, cooking (boil in bag), and even yes leaving your water bottle out in the sun.

    No negative effect.

I know it's an old thread but I hate ill-informed experts.

Mid 40's and was on weekly T injections for 4 years... My annual physical 4 years ago revealed T level in the mid 150s. Dr. said it was too low, so recommended weekly injections and check back in 4 weeks to see how I felt. After week 2, I felt great! No more feeling tired in the afternoons, had more energy and the libido of a teenager. My workouts in the gym were better and I was putting on muscle mass in my mid 40's.

The time going to the doctor for a weekly injection, the cost, the 3 month blood testing...all a pain, but it was worth it! My levels were in the 800-900 range. I would have recommended T injections to anyone.

During the middle of year 2, I began noticing thinning hair. Not gradual, pretty rapidly. I then began to question baldness for feeling good...It was still worth it to me. During year 3, I began suffering from severe headaches....I have always suffered with headaches, but Advil and 30 minutes later I was ok. These headaches were severe....Advil would not touch them. I lived with these severe headaches off and on for a year. They would be there for 3 days, gone 3 days; etc. This October, I began getting tests done...Apena, eye sight; etc.

Since summer of this year, my T shots also seemed like they were no longer working as well...started feeling tired, lack of energy, lower libido. Went in for my routine lab work and they found my estrogen levels were very high. T was still in 900 range. I was unaware, but a byproduct of T injections is that your body produces more estrogen. My high levels of estrogen was nullifying the T injections (even with a 900 reading)! Dr. recommended estrogen blockers.

Headaches were still there and getting stronger. Went to the Dr. in November. They took my Blood Pressure during the visit and it was 182/112. I am not overweight and BP has never been an issue. They immediately put me on medication and I began getting monitored daily. Still was in the 170-180/110 range. More medications and more monitoring and a week later, I'm in the cardiologists office for sonograms; etc.

Another side affect of T injections can be High Blood pressure. Cardiologist said my headaches were caused by high BP and the walls of my heart have thickened. I go back next week for more testing. Cardiologist advised that I stop T injections completely. I've been T free for 27 days. Feel week and tired as my body has stopped making Testosterone. My hope and understanding is that it will take time (months) for my body to start producing again. In the meantime, I will wait this out and get my BP under control.

It sucks getting old and I thought I found the fountain of youth with T shots....but your body naturally reduces the amount of T it produces for a reason....during these past few weeks, I have come to grips with my body aging gracefully.

If you decide to get on T, please consider the risk vs reward. Also, make sure you monitor your Blood Pressure. I will now probably have to take daily BP medication for the rest of my life.

Long read, but thought I would share my experience. For 3 years, the T shots were wonderful. Would I do it again, no.

Definitely something to think about. I said in my post that I don't really feel bad, and I don't; but like most of you have said, I take naps during the day. Pretty much every time I sit down. I feel good when I'm up doing things though. I'm a little concerned about the baldness. My hair started going gray at an early age, but I've always prided myself on not losing it.

Almost verbatim for me. It's just a matter of time. You feel great, even for years. But if your natural chemical makeup is not 1000, then it is not. I do think there is benefit in low t therapy, but I think there needs to be more research in "therapeutic" doses. There is no one size fits all. Sounds like you crossed a bridge ALL men's men go through. You can not be a bull hooken stud until you die. Well, you can, but that candle is lit at both ends.

Another firefighter/paramedic, that I work with, said that he's been doing the injections for years. He maintains his around 500 though. He's not going bald, or any other problems, yet. He's a few months younger than me. Instead of trying to get it high, to bulk up, I'm going to go the my Dr's recommendations. Hopefully I won't have any of the adverse effects, if I can keep it around the normal range. My Dr said that anything above 350 is normal for my age group, so I'm shooting for the 400-600 range.

Get ready for shriveled gonads if you take the synthetic.

I am 32 and was tested last year after my colorado hunting trip and I had a count of 198. Normal is around 500-950. I am taking pellets every 6 months and feel great!

I could probably lose a few pounds, in that area. Haha

Yep the long term side effects of jacking with your body's natural chemistry are not worth the risks.. Nope.

I realize there are times when it can't be avoided but Low T isnt one of them usually.
Men have survived well on this plant for a very long time. The Low T issue seems to be brand new.. Pharmaceutical driven... I never heard of it before I saw it on a TV advertisement.
I fell for it too for a very short while. Never again.

My advice is find a good doc if going to do it. 99.9% do not have a clue. Even the ones that tell you they do.

I got tested and it was low so Dr. prescribed the gel type. I used it for about a year and felt the good effects. I started reducing the dose and only using it occasionally and eventually quit using it. I talked to my Dr. and he said if it were him he wouldn't take the stuff because we still don't know the long term effects so I quit completely. I didn't put it together until recently but I was starting to struggle with what I would characterize as emotional issues outside what I would consider normal for me. I think it was either a withdrawal sort of thing or the result of increased estrogen that might be associated using t drugs. I started using it again and can attest that I feel way better, but I think I need to get off them permanently and get the effects flushed out of my system.
