Anyone put a sunshield on their trail cam?

My Moultrie takes great pics but I get the occasional white out in the daytime due to what I think is the sun coming thru the holes in the tree canopy. I'm wondering if putting some sort of sunshield over the camera lens would help minimize this? Thanks.

I try hard to position my cameras so that they point north, it helps a bunch to minimize those type of events.

A shade like was posted though does seem to be a good idea.

I build my own custom "bear boxes" for my TC's. They all have a lid that shades the front of the camera. I also make sure and always piont them North, to keep from the sun causing distortion to the pics.

Yep. I just bought a roll of 6" galvanized flashing and made a shade similar to Jerp's. A good pair of tin snips and a nail to make holes if you don't have a drill handy, and you're in business... Sprayed some black, others just left them shiny galvanized... It helps with the sun issue, and it also seems to help keep them from fogging up because of dew/moisture...

I use a Folgers coffee can cut in half lengthwise and screw it into the tree behind the camera. I painted the while thing OD.

I think it helps with pics, and it helps to keep the camera dry too I think.

I would imagine if you put the sunshield over the actual lens it would make the good pics in the good light too dark and you'd be dealing with the same thing on the opposite end of the spectrum.

I put mine in a box to keep the weather and sun off the whole camera....I have Scoutgurads and don't have a bunch of problems with white outs. I don't know if it is the boxes or camera.....

I just screwed my Primos 46 camera to the bottom of a Turkey Basting type pan
from the Dollar tree and mounted that to my Cattle panel feeder fence.

Smart, the coffee can is the same principle, basically a hood over the top.

Fanatic, how do you like the Truthcams? I put out a 46 and a 35 yesterday, I'm hoping they take some better pics than I have been getting.

Mine are pretty much just like this except made of lightweight flashing... I have never been able to work with wood... can't find no wooden welding rods...

The (1) 46 I have does take a decent pic no problems so far, but the more people that post up the 35's pics on the internet the more I'm liking that one.
My next one will probably be the 35, so far Amazon has the best price on them, Good Luck!

It is the shade more than likely. I have the same cameras and the ones with shade have not had near as many white out pics as the ones without a cover.
