Trees Are Dieing

Been running up to N. Hou. almost every day and have noticed a bunch of trees that are dead or dieing. Most are pines with a few others turning brown.

About a week ago there was a thing on the news about folks losing their trees. My guess is a couple of more weeks of no rain and we are looking at a very serious die off.

Wonder how the Juniper is doing in the Hill Country? Man it would be nice to lose a bunch of it.

the cedar does fine, tyvm, in this climate. the only thing they fear is the dozer or the flame. they are the roach of the tree world.

Pines could be from lack of water or the dreaded pine beetle.

Loosing about 10-20% of the cedar here in central Texas because of the drought. You can see a lot of it that has turned brown and is dieing out when you drive around.

I've got a tree inthe backyard shedding leaves like crazy.

I'm hoping it's a defense mechanism to save itself from lack of water.

cedar will grow anywhere and is impossible to kill, unfortunately.

A lot of oaks dieing as well. TX DOT going to have trouble with trees falling on the roads if we get a big blow in the future. Also, I've noticed the yaupon dieing off also. Never seen it like this here.

Channel 2 here in houston said that this is the worst the state has seen in over 50 years so many of us have not seen anything like this

It's kinda hard to see but every 4th or 5th tree is turning brown,,

Our cedars are turning brown here. Even the cactus are dying.

was going to ask the same question. at first thought, it was just trees near i- 45. more heat from the cars, fumes. then, i pulled off 0n 336. more of the same. dead ones all around. numbers will be in the thousands. from beltway to conroe. small new pines to old. oaks and trash trees. the understory is filled with pine needdles, two inches deep. my boss is 83 been in houston from the 50's never seen it. just hate that toothpicks, replaced trees.

Pine Beetle is goign to be the cause, not much from lack of water. I have cut down numerous trees around the houston area, mainly Cypress area caus eof the beetle. We havent had to much of the problem yet in College Station.

Our cedars are turning brown here. Even the cactus are dying.

This is what I was thinking. Deb we are 20 min. north of LLano, and we have maybe gotten 7/10s of an inch since January.

It really will be huge if we don't get rain soon.....
