Family looking to take a week or two trip down south, any suggestions on a place to park the 5th wheel?

Really only one option there...the KOA to the right just off the causeway....very nice, great restaurant on site(Pier 19) and another within walking distance(Dirty Al's). It is right across the street from Schlitterbahn.

There is a KOA that is on the Island that is very nice . Full hook-ups . There is also a County park that has very nice spaces with full hook-ups .
I use the boat ramp at the KOA almost every weekend .

You could also try the isla blanca park on the south side of the island.

Don't know if the spots at Dirty Al's are part of the KOA or the county park. You also might give them a call.

KOA all the way, plus i have seen some RV's parked on the north side of town across the convention center.

Now, any recommendations on fishing? Looking for a day trip and some shore fishing too.
