Anyone have one of these for their SUV?

The rooftop luggage carrier? How much space do they have and are they worth the $$$? This particular model is over $600.

Thule is a good brand from what I have read when looking for one myself. Some of the car top carriers actually have a LOT of room in them and most are very pricey. The carriers vary a lot in size. The Academy had some carriers last time I was there but not sure of the brand. Seems like it was a good bit less than $600 smackers too...check into the design as not all are created equal and may leak rain etc.

Thule is the only way to go IMO. Had one very similar to the one above and it worked great for us. We used it for several out of state trips, was always water tight and cleared ALOT of room inside the car during the trips.

            Hitchhaul in the reciever. $150.00
Wrap luggage in plastic bagges. $5.00
Cover with a BBQ Gas Grill cover. $20.00 (For a great one)
            Tie down with rope. $5.00

No wind drag or wind noise.

I hauled 6 peoples worth of luggage to Scottsdale and back.... Money saved for a Roof Top Carrier made the trip almost free (in fuel)

I've got a Yakima Rocket Box. It has been great for extra gear - holds golf clubs and packs/suitcases. I'm thinking about getting rid of it....trade?
