I wonder if the question would have been different if you were looking at revolvers. If he was going to recommend a training facility, would it be different depending on the type of handgun you bought? Prolly just wanted conversation. Seems to be the "gun store clerk" MO. I listened to one guy at a local shop talk one customer's ear off about the shortcomings of polymer guns, and then when I asked him if he had any 10 rnd mags in stock for a 1911 he said, "If you want hi cap, buy a Glock."

He probably didn't mean to much by it but I have ran into the occasional clerk that has the know it all attitude, it didn't come off real strong but it was definately noticable. You run into them now and again. i just ignored it and politely asked to see the gun of my choice.

Really? I guess I don't see how. My military background and his shouldn't have even come up during this discussion. I went in with a limited amount of time to look at two firearms specifically. Yeah, I can trade small talk while looking, and it was interesting to trade stories, but not necessary.

I went in the store for two reasons. To handle the firearms and for the person behind the counter to answer MY questions, IF he had any knowledge to do so.

In the end, I will buy the firearm from where I can get the best price, regardless of where I look at it.

I would always ask about use and comfort level with a particular firearm maybe to make other suggestions. There are alot of uninformed people buying guns. The training thing, however, that is a strange question.

Ok! Well at least he didn't ask why you're in a wheelchair. Could have been worse is all I'm saying since you asked.

MAYBE the guy is a firearms instructor and teaches a CCW class and was looking for students

It sure sounds like he was looking to drum up business for himself or a buddy that does firearms training.

Sounded like a decent question to me. Most retail guys don't know the product and probably don't care. His interest in you shows some class to me.

I don't see anything wrong with the question. He may have been concerned with your safety.
