I bought mine for $8 from walmart. It even came with a carrying sheath.
I sharpened it myself.

If you want a good machete, go to an Army/Navy store. $30 for one that should last forever.

I definitely think used is the way to go when buying machetes. I always buy machetes and brooms used.
