    Ron P / Frank Bill ???

I did not see this one coming. Any idea when an acual vote on this would happen?

"WASHINGTON, June 23 (UPI) -- Reps. Ron Paul, R-Texas, and Barney Frank, D-Mass., say they will introduce a bill to curb the government's role in marijuana law enforcement.

A marijuana policy advocacy group and several media outlets reported Paul and Frank, along with other congressional members, will introduce legislation Thursday that would "limit the federal government's role in marijuana enforcement to cross-border or inter-state smuggling."

The bill's authors said the measure isn't an attempt to legalize marijuana, but meant to ease conflicts between federal and state laws, CBS News reported. As many as 16 states allow the use of medical marijuana, which directly conflicts with federal law.

The Marijuana Policy Project said the legislation would "end state-federal conflicts over marijuana policy, reprioritize federal resources and provide more room for states to do what is best for their own citizens."

Anything Barney Frank is involved with should be read, re-read, read again, burned, and re-written by someone else..

If it passes I see more states legalizing medical marijuana and maybe recreational marijuana use taking a closer step to becoming legalized in some sort of way.

              LOL I agree.

The confusing part is I really like Ron Paul.

But the media is already bashing him. I swear it's all 100% rigged. Just watch, most internet polls will show Ron Paul with tons of votes and 80% of the people you and I know will swear they are voting for him.. But come election time he will somehow only has 1.2% of the votes....

                    Ron Paul on marijuana

Alcohol’s a deadly drug, kills more people than anything else. And today the absurdity on this war on drugs has just been horrible. Now the federal government takes over and overrules states where state laws permit medicinal marijuana for people dying of cancer. The federal government goes in and arrests these people, put them in prison with mandatory sentences. This war on drugs is totally out of control. If you want to regulate cigarettes and alcohol and drugs, it should be at the state level. That’s where I stand on it. The federal government has no prerogatives on this.

                      an interesting question.

Say someone sues and wins the case against the US and makes pot legal because States should mandate what is and isnt acceptable under their jurisdiction. Would the ruling then be case study for future lawsuits, say abortion rights, narcotics, gun rights, or any other highly contested policy? Does the Constitution have it spelled out exactly to the letter than the US can enforce drug laws, and if so, where? He's arguing States' rights for this, so how far does it really go, and how much do we really unravel with the ruling?

I say states rule all, the national government files papers.

I think I read the latest total is 16 states have approved medical marijuana but it's still illegal on a federal level?

I don't think the goal is to legalize marijuana, but simply to get the feds off the issue.

Interesting move, especially in locked step with Barny Frank (as systemnt points out).
