Anyone commute from Kyle to Austin for work?

How bad is the comment from Kyle to Austin? The reason I ask is that I had an interview in Austin on Tuesday that went really well. I have a really good feeling that they may offer the position. The job is in SW Austin, off of Southwest Parkway. The wife and I tooled around Austin all day after the interview. I mainly showed her my old stomping grounds during college and we went and had a few drinks at Cain and Abels (wow that place has changed). I quickly realized that where I lived as an undergrad would really not be good locations for a wife and two little girls. My wife is not really a big city person anyway. I thought about Buda or Kyle and just making the commute everyday. I have looked on the web and house prices seem real reasonable in Kyle and Buda. Just wanted to get some thoughts from the GS

Depending on the time you leave it can be BRUTAL. The trafic starts backing up around Buda and SUX from there on after about 7ish. Now depending on where you are working I can get u through some backroads to keep u off of 35. But it aint like FW. Atleast from Kyle to Austin is only a few miles.

35 is a real ***** at rush hour. I come in from Wimberley and work at UT. It takes me an hour to 45 min.but I do not take 35. Kyle and Buda is a great place to live with good schools.

Thanks for the info guys. I looked at a google map and looks like there are better ways than 35. I could no believe how much Kyle has grown in the recent years. I remember Kyle being small and out of the way

shouldn't be to bad from kyle to southwest parkway. I drive it from Kyle to Mabry, takes me about 40 to 50 minutes with traffic.

I go the other way, from Austin to Buda, so I'm going against the main traffic flow. It's not bad.

You can always exit Slaughter and take S. Congress in...

Try looking for some homes around southwest Austin. I just moved to a home off of mopac and southwest parkway and found a home for a decent price. There are some great neighborhoods around there. PM me if you have any questions about the area.

I don't know much about the commute from Kyle/Buda though. Sorry.

my wife drives from buda to 38th street. if she dont leave by 630, she wont make it on time to be at work at 730. it just depends where u have to be and what time u have to be there. i think u will be just fine workin in SW.
oh and the homes around here are great prices. we are actually building in a new subdivision and the prices were better that anywhere i seen in south austin. even by the same builder... goodluck
