I have not shot a deer with a gun in about 7 years, but I was lucky enough to get drawn for a rifle hunt at Chaparral this year. I bowhunted it once as a standby and work with a few people who have taken their kids there on youth hunts. I know the last archery hunt is about 2 weeks before my rifle hunt, and was wondering if anyone was going on the this hunt and would be willing to share information about what they see and where they hunted. Maybe this info will help me pick which pasture to hunt in? This will probably be my best opportunity to kill a South Texas buck since I will never be able to afford a South Texas lease.

Doeburger,
Congrats on being selected for CHAP. We hunted there a couple weeks ago. It is very green and lush with vegitation.
What number is on your permit? that will indicate in what order you get to choose your pasture. It is all good. try to find an area that has been aerated. Also look for drainages and hunt parellel. Blocker & Qualajote are good pastures.
Good Luck
