    New Pistol Caliber

I am wanting to get a new revolver to deer hunt with some. I am torn between a .41 and a .44 I have narrowed down the gun that I want so I just need some help deciding which round. I do not reload, and ammo is easy to find on the internet. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm a big fan of the .41 myself, but they will both do a great job. Finding ammo locally for the .41 is always a problem, which is why I started reloading. It sounds like you have that part figured out though. Which model are you going with?

      my preference would be .44

I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

        44 just my 2 cents

.41 is closer to .41 than the .44 is to .44, you can stoke a .41 way up! But may be harder to find ammo out in the boonies....I don't like shooting the .44mag

41 is sweet but it is an enthusiast's caliber. You can find 44 mag ammo most places.

I'd go with 44.mag just because ammo is more likely to be found in a store. Sure you can find .41mag all over the internet, but that doesn't do much good when you are at camp and just realized you forgot or lost your ammo.

Both will get it done. I'm for the 41 because I like the odd ball rounds over the more popular.

I was always a fan of the 44...that is until they came out with the 460. I can shoot three different rounds out of mine (45 LC, 454& 460). But if you are set between the 44 & 41...I'd take the 44 anyday.

Thanks guys. @ruger41 I'm getting one in Ruger SRH. People love either round, so I will probably be happy with either one. As far as external ballistics the 41 looks better but not a tremendous amount better.

I have a Ruger Redhawk in 41 Mag that I love for hunting. You can get 250 gr HC Corbon rounds that will ballistically do anything a 240 gr 44 mag factory load can do.

Either a 41 Mag or a 44 Mag would be a good buy. 44 Mag ammo is probably easier to find, though.

Yep, I'm a sucker for out of the norm rounds as well. I like my 41.

the 44 is more versatile,, mainly because of 44 sp rounds,, i have both and prefer the 41,, recoil is generally milder and it just more fun to shoot,,

I also considered (MIKE D will like this) getting a Glock 20. But wondering how that round would compare, power, accuracy, range(with standard barrel or ext) to the 41 and 44. Because I love automatics and a Docter on a Glock 20 with some trigger work would be sweet.
