? For the flooring guy's & the rest of the brain trust.

A few months back my wife and I stained the concrete floors in our house, and man it looks good!
BUT, I had a friend helping me with the work and the friend accidentally dropped a bottle of stain on my driveway. (My nice bright and clean driveway now has a 6'x6' black spot on it.)
I have tried washing it off, power washing it, pouring acid on it, and sand blasting it. None of these methods have worked.
Now guess what, the HOA has started sending me letters about the eye sore.
Does any one have experience with this kind of problem, add what advice can you give me?

If it was an acid stain I dont think it will come out. May have to look at some type of skim coat or something for the driveway. I bet a concrete guy will chime in here in a minute.

Saw cut and repour. It won't match but would be closer then black stain.

Why not just paint the drive in a neutral grey color that looks like concrete? or just ignore the HOA and tell them to kick rocks!! What are they gonna do, make you move?

My son does it for a living. Bet I could get him to come by on a Sunday and do it for a reasonable fee.... PM me with a phone # if interested.

I had a friend of mine that did the exact same thing, but his driveway was on a hill and he has a stain that goes from the garage to the road right down the center of the driveway. It looks really bad right next to his $750,000 house.

Yes it was an acid stain. I thought of the skim coat, but I'm afraid of it cracking. But of corse I'm not a concrete guy, so maybe it will work.

When we stained the inside of the house we used two different colors and it gave it a marble effect because one stain won't soak into the other. So I'm afraid if I try and stain the whole driveway it will just go around the black spot and not soak inn. But I'm not a pro by know means, so I don't know for sure.

I'm not saying this is necessarily the best option, just an idea. You could take a grinder to it and grind it down past the stain. Depending on how that looked, you could either leave it alone or trowel/pour some concrete patch in it. At least it would be deep enough to give the patch some "bite" and maybe keep it from cracking.

I believe I would just stain the entire drive, just stain right over the existing stain, it should blend in enough to not be an eye sore, other option is to sawcut out and repour that section.
