Posted this on TexAgs, so if some of you Ags have already seen it I apologize.
Not sure if this belongs in the Campfire area, or Classifieds - mods please feel free to move.
---I have recently reconnected with a former client from my staffing days, and they have expressed a need for 4-6 Mechanical Design Engineers in Houston.
I am posting this as a recruiter/head hunter/whatever you'd like to call me as I am contracting on their behalf.
Company
Privately owned, globally operating company with extensive experience in the design and manufacturing of heavy construction equipment for the world's leading on and offshore companies. Develops products entirely under own management; from concept to delivery. Typical equipment that is designed in the past 4 years includes: Retractable thruster systems (3700kW thrusters), Deep water lowering systems (10,000ft wd), Heave compensation systems, Drilling equipment and Pipelay equipment.
Position Description
As a design engineer, you will be part of a design team responsible for bringing a project from order to delivery. You will generate basic and detailed designs of large welded steel structures while performing calculations to justify design decisions. You will work with the electrical, hydraulic and controls departments to integrate their function into the design. You will be using the latest design software packages; from 3D design software to Ansys for finite element calculations. You will instruct engineers and draftsmen at our production facility in preparation of shop drawings, and you will provide support for questions that arise during production at our facilities in China, the Czech Republic & the Netherlands. You may also travel to the production facility to support assembly and installation. Simply put – you are involved in the complete process from design to production to actual delivery.
Position Requirements
Applicants for this position will have as a minimum a BS in mechanical engineering, naval architecture or a related field (MsC is a plus). The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of design experience. Experience with CAD programs is required (Solidworks preferred), and experience with finite element analysis is a plus. Occasionally international travel is a possibility. All candidates will take a mechanical/structural engineering test as part of the screening process. Eligibility to work in the US is required. Potential candidates must pass a drug test as a condition for a final employment offer.
We can offer
An energetic company, which is rapidly expanding. The Houston branch is a small office, with an informal work climate and dynamic colleagues. We actively encourage an open work environment. Despite the small size our association with our parent company gives us the resources to design and produce large and complex systems. Personal development is supported through several training possibilities including international calculation courses and an informal mentoring/knowledge sharing environment. There is ample space for initiative and career development. A very competitive benefits package and a salary in accordance with the market is offered for the right candidate.
In summarizing, my client is looking for true "creative thinkers" who don't care about job titles, but more so the projects they are working on. I cannot emphasize the amount of responsibility that is placed upon a design engineer, as each project is truly their own.
I have recently agreed to assist in their search for qualified candidates, and in such I do not have a website developed as of yet. I can assure you that this position is not a fishing expedition for resumes or other job leads as this is my only anticipated client. My assistance in this search is in addition to my normal job, so please be patient in response times.
