How wide is your tripod stand base?

I'm going to convert two Warren & Sweat ladder stands into the Ocala tripod stand they used to offer. I saw online where the angle of the legs should be at a 10 degree angle. Based on a 24" circle pattern for the legs to attach at the top, and using some basic trig calculations, that puts the footprint for the bottom of the legs at about a 6' circle.

This is based on using 12' poles for the tripod and a 6' diameter base doesn't seem wide enough to me. If anyone has a 12' tripod, how wide of a footprint do you have? Thanks.

Nobody uses tripods here . . . I would have thought there would be zillions of them in use in Texas. Thanks.

lol, settle down. Plenty of folks use tripods. I have a 12ft tripod that i build. I'd say its footprint is closer to 10 feet.

My angle is probably more like 25

I found a tripod made locally here in Michigan by Family Traditions. It's the TRI18 and is a monster of a stand but at nearly $650, a bit out of my range (if I owned my own land I'd have one).

I was able to measure one on display and it seems the legs are on a 15 degree angle - that should be a good starting point. Thanks.

i use 22.5 deg (or close.....lol) on the ones i build. 10 deg does not seem like enough of an angle
