    Travel Trailer / Generator ?

I am going to purchase a travel trailer in the next few weeks, and need some help selecting a good generator that won't break the bank. I have searched everywhere and it seems like the Honda/Yamaha/onan are the norm, but as far as a generator on beer money is there a good generator out there? And most importantly what size is best for a 30 amp trailer? I may want to run a small shop fan off of it as well, when we are at the race track. Thanks for the help..

Aren't there 50A/30A RV hookups at the race tracks already, as well as a honey wagon service that comes by daily to dump the black water tanks?

Look at the champion gennys. They are not as quiet but you will have beer money left.I found one for 260.00 to the door a year or so ago.

These are both priced at 600 and either would be perfect for you. Might even be able to haggle them down a little more.

Look for something in the 4500 to 5000 watt range. Both of these fit the bill.
When I bought mine I figured on spending 3 - 6 hundred and found a good 5000 watt for 450. I run my whole deer cabin with it. Window unit AC, microwave, TV, and 8 or 10 lights and still have lots of power left, so theres no strain on the generator.

I have a dumb question, how do you tell wether or not your generator can handle the needs of a travel trailer AC. micro wave etc. I have a 6000 watt genny now but don't know how to determine the 30/50 amp thing I hear people talikng about when discussing generators for their camper. Sorry for all the qeustions, there are so many decisions to make. We are trying to determine wether or not to buy a fifth wheel or bumper pull, slide out or no slide, etc. etc. and I want to make shure we get enough generator to do more than what we need.
