        Yes you can. I believe the only protected turtles in Texas are alligator snappers and saltwater terrapins along with all sea turtles.

          Thanks for the link. I have eaten my fair share of trutle, just want to be legal about it. EVERYTHING i shoot is for table fare or for bait to provide bigger critters for table fare. Unless, its an animal that is causing problems. I have seen quite a few turtles this year while bowfishing, but i have an "ask first then shoot" policy. Keeps me outa trouble that way.

              Gut them down the belly... Filet the rest out from the shell... Gut and cut like a chicken... Fry, grill, soup and do sure the gumbo...!!!

                flip them over, follow the shell with a knife, bust the shell with a hatchet where it is connected then remove the bottom of the shell. you will be left with a "bowl" of meat and other "stuff". then cut out all the meat. it has white and dark meat.

                CHICKEN FRY!!!

                  Never thought about eating em... Used to see hundreds when you leave a pig in the river and go back to get him in the morn!

                  Crazy when theyre buried in the mud and you step on em!
