Set ups for jetty fishing Port A ?????

What do you all set up your lines with for fishing on Piers, Jetty's, and beach.

I am normally a land locked fisherman, so I have not set up to many rods for the coast.

What does the Brain Trust say?????

If your fishing on the bottom, my setup looks similar to this.

Sweet, keep em coming. I have several rods that will be in the water, so i will try different set up ups as I can.

You can use the lemon rig also. Let me see if I can describe it. Get a 3 way swivel and tie one to your main line. One of the 2 left over rings, tie your leader with a hook, say 36 inches. On the last ring, tie your float on the same length of leader. When you cast, it shortens the amount that you have hanging and when it hits the water, you get 6 feet of depth from float to hook. I wouldn't trust exactly this description so google it and it should be easy to find.

you can also use steel leaders at the jetties. Lost a lot of gear this weekend cause of those dang rocks.

Use a fish finder rig. A hook at the bottom, 24" leader to the swivel and a slip egg style sinker above the swivel. The weight size should be varied based on the current to stay just in contact with the bottom. I will also use a hook with a slit shot about 16" above the hook for letting the bait drift just below the surface. I prefer to chunk topwaters whenever I can.

If you're anything like me and bad habit you'll spend about $50 in hooks and weights getting hung up in the rocks before you give up and just fish the surf side of the jettys!

This may be very true... I have been known to do this. Get frustrated and go to something else.

Doesn't matter where I throw or what rig I use (accept for with a cork) I get hung up! Makes me mad!

Me too but once I fished the fishfinder rig at the end of the jetty at Destin and the current was just right to move it on the bottom around the tip of the jetty. Everbody out there loaded up on pompano. Of course, it never happened again and that was a long time ago.

I'm in the same boat. Finally I started throwing weedless hook setupd. Jig heads get expensive

1/4 or 1/8 oz barrel weight, then tie a black barrel swivel, 12"-16" of 20 pound leader, and lastly a kayhl hook. Throw it out and work it back slowly. Bait live shrimp if you have it available, or piggy perch. Good Luck and have FUN!
