    Our New Tracking Pup!!

After LOTS of research on which breed would fit my family best and had a great nose for tracking and after reading "Tracking Dogs for Finding Wounded Deer" we finally found and got our new pup!!
We went through Houston on the way back from Port Aransas today and picked her up. She's a 4 month old Standard WireHair Dachshund. She comes from a great blood line out of Corpus Christi and I just hope she's as much of a natural as her mom!
We haven't named her yet but have a few ideas. Suggestions welcome!

She basically keeps her nose down when outside...

Give us some tech data here, we are amateurs.
I like the dog, what breed and what do you expect out of the dog?

Standard WireHair Dachshund. This is not the miniature 8 pound "lapdog" most think about when they hear Dachshund. Big males can weigh as much as 40 pounds but I expect my female to weigh around 25 when she's grown. I hope that she will track wounded deer/hogs, be a good family dog and in a perfect world I can train her to do other things like retrieve dove after she's got tracking down. We will see though. Baby steps...
