My wife had one of her cousins come over to hang out for the day. He's 12. I noticed my bow hanging in the opposite direction I always hang it. Wife says she didn't touch it, so it had to be the cousin. It's set at 70lbs peak. I have no idea if he pulled it and released it or not, and he tends to not be honest about those kinds of things. Can the average 12 year old pull a 70lb bow far enough back to damage it?

When I was around 12 I was feeling my oats, bragging about how my 40# Martin was way too light and I needed a heavier bow. One day my sister's boyfriend at the time (who was the one who taught me how to shoot a bow) handed me his Ben Pearson which was 70# and told me that if I shoot it once, it's mine. Needless to say, I didn't gain a bow that dayand looking back, I'm sure there was no fear on his part that he'd be giving up one as well
I think you're safe

My son pulled 60# last year as a 13 year old. He is very strong though. At 12 he could pull around 45. He grew six inches in height and gained 55 lbs so he grew rapidly from age 12 to age 13. I do not know any "average" 12 year old that could pull 70 lbs. There have to be a some bigger 12 yr olds that could do it though.
