MLB Talks Realignment- Astros to the AL?

They say it's 50/50 whether or not realignment will happen as early as next season. Astros are one of a couple teams that could have to move to the AL. Right now there are 14 AL Teams and 16 NL.

Thinking about doing away with divisions all together and making two 15 team leagues with the top 5 from each making the postseason each year.

A form of realignment has been raised in labor talks between MLB and the players' union, according to three sources: Two leagues of 15 teams, rather than the current structure of 16 NL teams and 14 in the AL.

The Astros need to stay in the NL.

They talk about the Rangers-Astros becoming a rivalry in the AL. Why can't the Marlins move to the AL and become a rivalry with the Rays? The DH makes American League baseball a joke. The Astros are already cellar-dwellers this season. I'd hate for them to be cellar-dwellers in a "joke" of a league.

And if they go to 5 playoff spots per league like is being suggested, then do 4 and 5 play for the right to play 1? Then the winner of 1 vs. 5 play the winner of 2 vs. 3 for the pennant?

hate the DH. hate the Astros. if the Stros move then I will never get to see the Cards.

the truth is Texas baseball hasn't distinguished itself much through the years, in either Houston or Dallas. pairing these two not a good idea!

I lived in an NL town for 14 years(Atlanta)and if I never see a pitcher bat again it will be too soon. It's an automatic out and one of the most pathetic sights in all of sports. Talk about a joke. The DH was one of the best ideas ever, and WILL NOT BE REPEALED.They can send an NL team the AL,I dont much care. However I wish they would allow 8 teams per league into the play-offs,it would add much more interest late in the season..

I really don't care which league they lose in.

                  Dont know about that...
Astros made the NLCS in '86 then made the playoffs in '97, '98, '99, '01, NLCS in '04 and World Series in '05
Now granted they arent burning up the record books but they were a great team in the late 90's to mid 2000's.

Just dont get much recognition outside of the Houston area. I still havent figured out why they are such a small market team? After the 10 year run they had they should have gotten some national attention.

Playoff team for 6 out of 9 years is pretty good.

Roy Oswalt once gave up a HR to Pujols, in an interview after the game he jokingly said "Oh yeah, I was excited when he hit that one. I'm finally going to be on SportsCenter"

I'm not a fan of pitchers not batting. It happens in BOTH leagues. In the AL, somebody bats for the pitcher. In the NL, the pitcher doesn't practice or try, and he's an automatic out. BOTH suck. Pitchers should practice their batting skills like everybody else, and they should bat for themselves.

As for a realignment, I could take it or leave it. Baseball is baseball. I'll watch no matter who the Rangers are playing. If a realignment meant somehow that Fox Sports Southwest would quit putting the Lastros games on Friday nights so we could see the Rangers play every day, then that would be even better.

Why not just send Millywalkeye back to where they came. Not sure I can think of something as stupid as having 14 teams in one league and 16 in another.

I grew up watching the Astros. I don't even go to their games anymore because they suck so bad. Maybe a switch to the AL is what they need, I might even go to see them play some of the AL teams I never got a chance to see much of.

However if they don't find some better talent they will be sucking the hind-tit there in the AL too, year in, year out.

I would LOVE to have a legitimate, fun rivalry with the Rangers and Stros. I don't like the DH either, but it beats the hell out of watching pitchers at the plate.

That Joke of a league has pretty much been kicking the crap out of the "other" league for a while.

When PED testing catches up with Pooholes you won't have to worry about watching the cards anyway.
