I am working on a project and need to use led lights to get the same output a 100w 12v light puts out. Only catch is i do not want to use a 12v battery i want to power it with a battery pack of like 8 aa's or 3 c cells and have it run 4-5 hours at that. Something like that. Has to fit in a two inch circle.

First off, do you know what your doing when it comes to building led lights. If not, you have some hurdles to overcome. First you will need a led capable of putting out 1700 lumens, then you will need to properly heat sink it and I doubt a if your total light size is around 2 inches that you will be able to add enough heat sink to draw the heat away and you will have a quickly dimming light and ultimately a dead led. Then you are going to need a driver board to run the led. You also wont get 4-5 hours run time at full power on 8 aa's or 3 c cells. I think your going to have to go back to the drawing board to accomplish what you want. -

Ok I am wanting to build a floundering light that I can run on some batteries buried in the handle. I know that they make them but i was wanting to build one myself cheaper. Typical DIYer. If anyone has done this any pointers would be great. Also the head can be an inch, 1/2 inch, 4 inches. It does not matter.Comment
