Personally, and I have had both on my 33' triple slide trailer, both the regualr 5th wheel and gooseneck hook up and I would go with the 5th wheel hook up every time. If you are by yourself, it is a pain in the butt to get the goosneck hooked up where as a 5th wheel you can see the hookup and you do not have to be spot on like a goosneck has to be. As far as pulling, I could not tell a difference in how either pulled or the ease of one over the other. A big con on the 5th wheel hookup is if you want the space in the bed after you unhook, it is a pain to remove and move the 5th wheel out of the bed, those buggers are down right heavy!

I've pulled a 31 footer with brandon's truck which is the same as yours. It wasn't as comfortable as with my 3/4 ton but with stabilizer bars you'll do just fine.

I've owned about 22 campers in my life and have pulled campers with anything from a Dodge Dakota to a 1-ton dually Duramax. I also pulled campers out of Indiana out to dealers all over the country, so I have pulled everything from a small pop-up to a triple axle 42 foot bunkhouse trailer. My advice is, if you are going to keep the half-ton, go with a lightweight travel trailer (bumper pull) with weight distribution hitch. I would only recommend anti-sway bars if you're going to be pulling it in high winds or on long tripsl. Hope this helps.
