Very well could be, not sure. We have a lot of tall grass on our property and I know they like that stuff but we have actually had some pretty good rains here lately so it's not severely dry?

No advise for you. They must come and go quickly cause my buddy got eaten up by 'em pretty bad a couple of weeks ago at the ranch. We went six days later and ran around all weekend without a bite? Guess I'm not chigger material.

Take a razor blade and cut them open and pour rubbing alcohol on them. Sting for a lil bit but works wonders.

bleach bath to dry your skin out will help with the itch. The chiggers are gone but you are still producing the stuff they feed on the surface. Drying out skin is the best way to go now. After bath a regular "rinse" with rubbing alcohol will keep it dry.

To prevent it next time take the scent free garlic pills daily for about a week before you go and you won't get eaten up. chiggers, sand fleas, fleas, and ticks don't like the taste.

I wish it worked on mosquitos too!

This! I had my doubts about it before I tried it, but swear by it now.

Go to any pharmacy or grocery and buy a bottle of vitamin E liquid capsules. Take up to 400 IU AT. Time. Promise it will help the itching.

Old indian recipe that works for bites, stings and poison ivy/oak.

dig up some roots from a persimmon tree
                        smash the roots up
boil the smashed up roots in water for 10-15 minutes
strain the mixture and keep the liquid in a cool place
Apply the liquid to the infected area (we use cotton balls to apply it with)

Finger nail polish works well. It suffocates them. These bugs have gone under the skin and have to breath through the hole. Nail polish clogs that hole. You are itching because of the toxin that the chiggers are using to dissolve your tissue. I got em bad last year and read a whole bunch of stuff on it. good luck to you!
