I was watching the news and they put some kind of twitter address or something on the screen. It started with what I have always called a POUND SIGN. They called it a SLASH HATCH or something like that. I always thought I was pretty hip and up to date on things, but when the heck did they change this?

That's really funny... on twitter it is called a "Hash Tag". So if you wanted to search "Hunting" for instance you could search that instead of trying to search the specific user that sent it

Monkey Blood was "Mercurochrome". They stopped selling it in America due to possible Mercury poisoning in 1998. Still sold around the world...

More than you ever wanted to know.... #(hash tags) are ways to follow trends on twitter, while its a cool feature for users, the real value is in the value of the data from those trends. You can plot vs geograhpy, other hastags, etc. For those that need it, its a wealth of information about what grabs people's attention, and how news spreads in this day and age. The night they announced bin Laden's death, Twitter averaged 5,000 tweets a second for a sustained period of time.
