Thoughts using 2 blade Rage BH on elk?

I'm shooting a Z7 Mag 70lbs with 28.5 DL. I really like the Rage broadheads, but many will tell you not to use mechanicals on elk.

Any experience with these BHs on elk? Any other suggestions?

I don't like them for whitetails, but that's just me.

I did run across a guy last year in New Mexico that shot a raghorn with a Rage. He showed it to me and one blade sheared off, the other was bent and the tip of the blade was bend over.

I'd go with the advice of the many who told you not to use them.

I've never shot a Swhacker into an elk but I wouldn't hesitate a bit to do so.

I don't know if I would shoot a schwaker into one, but I would shoot a rage no problem. I would do it in a heartbeat. I have killed big animals with them before.

I wouldn't do it. Elk are tough critters and those shoulder blades will stop a mech easier than a fixed. Get you a good fixed 3 blade, 4 blade is ok, but you want to get to the goodies on an elk, unless you enjoy the "elks revenge". . I shoot the Ram Cat and so far, I really like 'em

what kind of total arrow weight are we talking here? 70# draw with a decent draw length you should have plenty of speed and kinetic energy especially with a heavy arrow.... seems to be a good combo with the rage, but- if you have a cut on contact fixed blade that flies just as well that would be what I had on the end of my arrow at full draw settling on the elks vitals

Not sure what size arrow (weight) you are shooting, but many studies and expiriments have shown that a heavy arrow with fixed 2 blade broadhead is one of the most lethal combinations there is. I use the rage for whitetail but i also live in Georgia where they are not like the big bodied mid west ones. I would use a fixed 2 blade like the magnus or muzzy.

I started shooting mechanicals a few years ago and I still go back to muzzys for elk.

I say NO, shot a 6x6 last year perfect shot, 70lbs on the bow, and got 8" pentration, single lunged, never recovered the elk, so again I say NO.

Don't do it....you need the most penetration possible

I wouldn't shoot one with a mechanical. I have shot all my elk with fixed blade broadheads. like others have said you need the penetration because they are big critters.
