I think a lot of this depends on what you want to do once you get out as well. For someone in an infantry position, you have things such as law enforcement, homeland security, secret service, FBI, CIA, NSA, and countless private security firms. All great positions and pay VERY well in most cases.

My first MOS was T-64 jet engine overhaul mechanic. Went to all the schools for it and then went to a squadron and Crew Chief on CH-53s.

There are opportunities in all branches after you get out.

Although I'm still looking for somewhere I can use my NVG and aerial gunnery instructor certs at.

I haven't heard the term LRRPs used since right after the Vietnam War. When I got out as a USAR officer in 1991, they were referred to as LRSU, because at that time I was trying to get in the LRSU Leader's Course before I got out.

The last of the Lrrp's to my knowledge were disolved in late 95 in Germay and were filtered back into unit other units.Thats were i ended up in Schwienfurt Ger.

He told his recruiter he would do it, and the recruiter is going to check and see if any of the openings are still left.

He may not call, remember, he is 19 and may have it all figured out by then. He is not one to agonize over decisions too much. That is part of what drives his momma crazy.
