I have seen the blocks hit the floor 8 times in 5 years.
This time it blew the drawworks to pieces and sent the clutch up through the rig floor. Sounded like a bomb went off from the directional trailor down here and the ground shook like crazy while they were falling
Glad nobody got hurt - flesh and bone won't slow falling iron too much. Back in the late 70's I was working as a floor hand, and a guy on my rig working graveyard (I was on morning tour) got squashed by the blocks and lost both his legs. One of the countless ways you can lose body parts - or your life - in that line of work.
