I had a incident like that w/ my father one weekend when I was home from college. Very tough to deal w/. Fortunately I had my own place to go back to. Hang in there things will get better. No way to reason w/ a drunk. My father got help and is in a great place now, and we have a great relationship. Take care of yourself and pray that he gets control of his problem. Prayers up for both of you.

I saw that you said you tried to join the Army, that would be be a good choice but even if you were qualified you probably wouldn't ship till atleast october at the earliest, you probably want something more immediate than that anyway. I recommend Job Corps, I am an Army Recruiter and have seen that program do great things for folks in a bad spot, although you already have a job and if you enjoy it then there is no reason to give that up.
I cannot give advice from personal experience in this situation, only as an observer and as someone who has observed this with his friends as well. Turn to friends that is why they are there, lean on them and God and you will make it through anything.

X2. We have to go through the wilderness to get to the Promised Land. Alcoholics Anonymous has a group that is specifically for the family members of alcoholics called ALANON (I think). You should check into it. They can help you deal with the emotional pain of what you have been through. It helped some of my family members when I got sober (4 years this month; Praise God!). The Earthly stuff will work itself out; it always does. It is the internal stuff with you that you need to address. Don't bury it and let it eat you up. I know it is hard, but you seem to be a smart young man. You will be alright. Trust in God and let Him work in you. God Bless!
