    Hog trap question...

I built me a nice hog trap out of hog panel this weekend. I think it will work great, but have a concern. Once they are in there, I know they will try to dig themselves out. What can I put around the bottom of the panel to prevent them from digging under it? Remember the trap is round, so cutting more panel to angle around the bottom would be very difficult.

    Thanks

I have used cedar posts run long way and wire tied to bottom of the panel, but t-posts no less than every 3-4 feet is your best option. I will at least keep them from lifting the panels up.

Post close together is your best bet.

I have only lost one hog by them digging out out of thousands. Wire the tposts very good all the way at the bottom

strand of barbwire at the ground level not do the trick? works on our feeder pens to keep them from digging in...

Glad to hear that I may not need anything. I just see how they tear up the ground below my feeder and figure they would try to dig out of the trap also.

never had any problems with them digging out, just make sure there are no holes where the panels go over

I'm more concerned about them getting their nose under the panel. Once they do they will get under it. they have unreal power.
