The walmart here has the camo 700 7mm mag scope combo for $488. And it has their new trigger. Didn't look at the scope other than to see it had weaver type rings and bases.

It's dropped a bunch of animals.
I'd add some sort of sound Deadining material to the hollow butstock, aside from that you'll be happy with it.
Cheap ole remmy corelokt 130's have done me well.
I will keep trying, one day I will find a rifle that likes the cheap bullets!

I will keep trying, one day I will find a rifle that likes the cheap bullets!$$$ trying to find something else it wanted to eat (finally sold it). I hit a steel target at 500 yards 3 out of 4 shots with those ballistically challenged rounds. (the first shot missed but helped me adjust for wind)
My current two .308's will shoot them with a great group (one is even a pistol).
Heck my wifes 7mm-08 will shoot them as well.
I guess I'm lucky for cheap stuff?
I like Boat tail bullets, so Its not my go to or anything, they just seem to work for me. They'll dirty a barrel up quick though-IMHO.
Oh yeah, in the .270 ADL I could get hornady 140's to shoot, but they pencil holed a few deer so I dropped them.
The fusions, federal premiums and winchester BT's didn't do so hot at the range so I just swapped back to core-lokts. They work for me, Dead is Dead.

1st - The remington 700 has been around forever and is a solid buy (especially for the price). Even the inexpensive ones will shoot well. Barring a lemon, it will outshoot "most" people's abilities even though "most" people won't admit it.
2nd -Don't trash that scope. Shoot it first see what happens. Don't listen to anybody that tells you have to buy "BRAND X" scope, bullets, etc. It could be just fine depending on what you intend to use the rifle for.
I have a Winchester model 670 (economy model 70) 243 that has a 20 year old very cheap Bushnell 3X9 scope that hasn't been adjusted in 10 years (I put it on a bench just about every year.) It will shoot less than 1/2 MOA @ 100 - 300 yards with those "cheap" Remington CoreLokt bullets. It's cheap, ugly, the trigger is rough, and I refuse to change anything on that rig. It outshots all the "expensive" rifles I own!
Sounds like a good deal, I wouldn't hesistate to buy it. Good shooting/hunting Sir.

What StrayDog just said...Most people cannot shoot up to the ability of the $1200 rifle and $1000 scope they carry into the field. And there's nothing wrong with that scope.
I have had that exact rifle for a little over a decade now. Rem. 700 ADL, black synthetic, .270 Win with the Bushnell 3-9 x 40 on it. Bought it at Academy in Fayetteville, NC at the grand opening of the store.
It has dropped dozens of animals and shoots 1" groups at 100 yards. It is affectionately known as "Trusty Rusty" at the lease. That Bushnell is not a bad scope either. Clear glass, and holds a zero like a fat kid holds onto cake.
Don't let anyone tell you that because it doesn't say Leopold or Nikon on the side of it or because it came from Wal-Mart that it isn't a good scope.

BTW: My son's first deer with a 700 .270 using 130 grn. core-loct. He shot a 6 point that night and both dropped where they stood. That is the exit wound you see. No real damage to the meat.
