    Alligators??

Got a somewhat stupid question for y'all-

We recently stocked a 6 acre lake with with all kinds of fish(none bigger than 6"). That very same day that we had the pond stocked we found our first alligator in it. Now he wasn't exactly a monster, really he was more like a mean lizard at only 3'. Here's the question; will he have an impact on the fish population? And if there's one little one should I assume there's more?

One other factor; we know that 2 larger alligator were killed in the next pasture over last year which is maybe half a mile at most.

impact - if he's in your pond he has to eat something ..... fish will be the breakfast , lunch and dinner

      if he's 3' long, he's likely 3 yrs old

as an opportunist, the alligator will eat anything he can catch ... fish, turtles, snakes, rodents, etc.....

do what you want, maybe consult the local biologist and see what he says

3' alligator hunts are hard to sell....

Not an expert but had a deer lease where all the ponds had small gators in them. I could always hear them feeding all night long when hog hunting at night. Never caught any sizeable number of fish.

Six acres is a good size lake, your going to have a steady supply of alligators no mattter what you do to this little guy.

No sir, this lake is in Wood County in NE TX. However within the last week we have developed a bit of a hog problem here at my house in Paradise, hopefully I'll remedy that this weekend

We've had pigs here for a while. I shot a 250+ in my front yard last spring but the alligator thing freaked me out thinking they may be this close and not having had a clue.

They will eat fish but I am not sure how much of an impact 1-3' gator would have. Most likely a juvenile male that has been forced out to find some new turf.

You do realize there is an open gator season in this part of the state until the end of June?
